Manes Tails and Feathers
We were lucky to find sunshine at Woodreef today when we were Dee’s guests for a demonstration of tidying and beautifying a traditional/native hairy cob. The demonstration was done by Rhian Jones who produces cobs and coloureds for the showring. The lovely Lliw was our model and behaved impeccably throughout. Rhian took us through the right way of grooming the knots and tangles out of long thick manes and tails and the tricks of getting and keeping them clean. She then trimmed and tidied Lliw and moved on to demonstrate different ways of plaiting and the end result was a very glamorous pony. All 14 of us were then invited to warm up in Dee’s kitchen and enjoy some of her home baking and much welcomed tea. As well as familiar faces it was nice to welcome Tracey and Ralph Jones, members from Brecon, who we hope will join us for more events. Thank you Dee for your hospitality and Rhian and Barry for a very interesting and informative afternoon.
